Frequently asked questions.

When is it available?

Where is the yacht located?

SaraLin is currently located at TMM Yacht Charters located at Road Town on the Island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.

How much does the charter cost?

The short answer is it all depends. Charter rates vary depending on the time of year you want to go (high season costs more than low season), how long your charter will last, and what charter services you want to include (bareboat versus captained, etc.). There are also a number of small charges related to government fees which are determined by the number of people in your party.

You may also want to rent extra equipment such as kayaks, paddle boards, water toys, and yes, even guitars.

Let us know your desires and we will customize a charter plan that fits your budget. Please send us and enquiry and we will be happy to provide a quote.

Why not just book directly with TMM Yacht Charters?

For the same price as you will pay to TMM, as the Owner/Captain of SaraLin Captain Bill will provide you with a more personalized experience when planning your vacation that is specific to the SaraLin. We work in partnership with TMM so you will get the same great service from the TMM folks when you arrive at the charter location. Our value added is on the front end of the charter process where we can help you plan for your specific needs. Also, as the owner/captain of SaraLin Captain Bill is most familiar with the yacht and can provide experiences not available from other skippers.

What’s the difference between bareboat & a captained charter?

Charters range from bareboat to full service captained. If you bareboat charter, you will need to submit a sailing resume’ to take the boat out without a captain. If you don’t have the necessary sailing skills, or just want to relax and let a captain do the work, you can opt for a captained charter. A captained charter can include just the captain (may require you to help out a bit with docking, anchoring, etc.); a captain + first mate (you will not have to do anything but relax); or a captain + mate/cook (not only will you not have to do anything, but you will also not have to cook!).

Can you tell me more about captained charters?

If you want a captain, you can customize your cruising experience depending on the level of service you desire. Generally, basic services can include any combination of the following:

  • Charter Captain. Your captain will accompany you on your trip and only requires minimum help from crew for tasks like docking, anchoring, etc. Of course, anyone who wants to help sail the boat is more than welcome. Many have actually learned to sail while cruising with a captain.

  • Charter Captain + first mate. The captain will bring along a capable deck hand who will enable the rest of the crew to do absolutely nothing but relax during the cruise.

  • Charter Captain + first mate/cook. A step up in service to also include provisioning and cooking. You can customize a culinary plan that fits your specific needs.

Again, every aspect of your trip is customizable.

How do I guarantee my charter dates?

Charter dates are locked in and guaranteed when your deposit is received which is 50% of the charter fee + additional expenses. Also required is a signed charter contract, and up to date sailing resume’ (disregard if hiring a full-time skipper).

Can I sleep aboard the yacht the night before my charter begins?

Yes, for a cost of 50% of the applicable daily rate, you may board anytime after 5pm. We recommend the sleep aboard option as it allows you time to get familiar with the yacht and makes for a more relaxed departure on the following day.

What should I bring?

Pack comfortable clothing in a duffle bag (roller bags are too bulky). Check out the following link for some suggestions.

What forms do I have to complete?

You will need to sign a Charter Agreement along with a Liability Waiver. If you will be bareboat then a sailing resume’ is also required.
